More than 35,000 people, mostly civilians, have died in Syria since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began some 20 months ago. 

The Syrian army daily bombards the territory , especially areas with a large concentration of civilians, as schools where women, children and elders take shelter after losing their homes, hospitals and bread lines.

The ceasefire proposed by the United Nations and accepted by both the Syrian Army and the rebels has not give any fruit as it has been broken, just hours after it began.

A further 2.5 million Syrians urgently need humanitarian aid, and over 340,000 have crossed the border to Syria’s neighbouring countries, according to UN estimates.

Catorce historias que muestran cómo es la vida cotidiana en Siria mientras en cada esquina silban las balas y cruzar a la siguiente calle puede suponer el fin de tu vida. La parte más humana del conflicto, a través de los testimonios de personas comunes, sencillas, cuyas vivencias aportan un valor extraordinario para poder entender lo que realmente ocurre.

SOBRE LOS AUTORES

• Ethel Bonet (1975), estudié filología árabe en la universidad de Alicante e hice un maestre de periodismo en la agencia EFE. Becaria de Agencia EFE en Marruecos 2003. Desde 2005 colaboro con LA RAZON; Onda Cero, EL TIEMPO de Colombia, ARA y la revista Tiempo de Hoy.

• Manu Brabo (1981), después de estudiar fotografía en la Escuela de Artes de Oviedo marché a Madrid donde empecé Periodismo en la Universidad Carlos III. Mientras, estuve trabajando como fotógrafo de distintas agencias. Después de tres años estudiando en la universidad decidí dejarlo y centrarme en el fotoperiodismo.

• Sergi Cabeza (1981), viajé a Oriente Medio por primera vez mucho antes de licenciarme en Periodismo en la Universitat Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona. He cubierto como freelance la transición política egipcia y la batalla de Alepo, en Siria. Cuanto más conozco esta zona, menos la entiendo.

• Antonio Pampliega (1982), (Coordinador de Siria. Más allá de Bab el Salam) se lincenció en Ciencias de la Información en la Universidad Europea de Madrid. En el año 2008 comienzo a recorrer las principales zonas de conflicto del mundo: Irak, Líbano, Pakistán, Afganistán, Haiti y Siria... Actualmente colaboro con AFP, AP, El País y Tiempo de Hoy.

• Alberto Prieto (1966), fotógrafo freelance interesado en documentar la parte más desfavorecida del ser humano en sus distintas fomas (a ser posible de modo económicamente viable).

• Maysun (1980), fotógrafa documental independiente Española-Palestina, sin sede establecida. La inquietud por aprender, mi deseo de ayudar a otras personas, me hicieron darme cuenta de la necesidad de documentar lo que me rodea. Mi trabajo ha sido publicado en Time magazine, The New York Times, Der Spiegel, Stern, The Guardian, entre otros..


POR QUÉ APOYAR ESTE LIBRO

Este libro pretende mostrar cómo es la vida mas allá de la contienda, situaciones cotidianas que en los medios de comunicación no suelen tener cabida. Una visión hasta ahora nunca vista de Siria que te ayudará a comprender merjor cómo es el quehacer diario cuando las balas silban en cada esquina.

Cubiertos los costes de edición, los autores de este libro harán una donación para la compra de medicinas que serán enviadas al hospital de Aleppo en Siria.

IMPORTANT: This is a crowdfunding initiative to get edited a book about Syria. Funds will be used to purchase medicines. The authors of the book will buy medicines and deliver them, in hand, to the doctors of Dar Al-Shifa hospital in Aleppo (Syria).

ABOUT THE AUTHORS.


• Ethel Bonet (1975), studied Arabic philology at the University of Alicante and became a master of journalism EFE Agency. EFE Fellow in Morocco in 2003. From 2005 collaborated with LA RAZON; Onda Cero, EL TIEMPO de Colombia, ARA and magazine Tiempo de Hoy.

•Manu Brabo (1981), after studying photography at the School of Arts of Oviedo left for Madrid where I started journalism at the Universidad Carlos III. While I was working as a photographer for various agencies. After three years studying at university I decided to leave and focus on photojournalism.

• Sergi Cabeza (1981), I traveled to the Middle East for the first time long before graduating in Journalism at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. I've covered, as a freelancer, Egyptian political transition and the Battle of Aleppo in Syria. The more I see this area, less understand.

• Pampliega Antonio (1982) (Coordinator of Syria. Beyond Bab el Salam) Degree in Information Science at the European University of Madrid. In 2008 I started travelling through the main areas of conflict in the world: Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Haiti and Syria... I'm currently collaborating with AFP, AP, El País and Tiempo de Hoy.

• Alberto Prieto (1966), freelance photographer interested in documenting the most disadvantaged of the human being in its various forms (preferably in an economically viable way).

• Maysun (1980), Spanish-Palestinian independent documentary photographer, with no established headquarters. The interest of learning and the desire to help people made me realize the necessity of documenting my surroundings My work has been published in Time magazine, The New York Times, Der Spiegel, Stern, The Guardian, among others.


WHY SUPPORT THIS BOOK

This book aims to show what life is like beyond the strife, everyday situations that are not usually shown in the media . A vision, until now, unheard of Syria, to help you better understand how is the daily life, when the bullets whizzing around every corner.

Covered the costs of editing, the authors of this book will make a donation for the purchase of medicines to be sent to hospital in Aleppo in Syria.

One year after the revolution, and facing the first elections supposedly free and democratic of the history of the country,  egyptian women continue, more than ever, in search of democracy, empowerment and human rights. 

These are the women that still weeps their sons, brothers and husbands that died during the riots against the military regime. Women from different social class, age and condition. 

Some, deeply marked by traditional and religious values prevailing and defenders, at all costs, of what was provided by the Old Regime. 

Other, united by the desire for equality and freedom, values sorely needed in a country that relegates them, both in social and political terms, to the background and invisibility.

Un año después de la revolución, y enfrentándose a las primeras elecciones supuestamente libres y democráticas de la historia del país, las mujeres egipcias continúan, más que nunca, en busca de democracia, empoderamiento y derechos humanos. 

Estas son las mujeres que aún lloran a sus hijos, hermanos y maridos caídos durante las revueltas; mujeres de diferentes edades, condición y clase social. Algunas de ellas, profundamente marcadas por los valores tradicionales y religiosos imperantes y defensoras, a ultranza, de lo establecido por el 

Antiguo Régimen. 

Otras, unidas por el deseo de igualdad y libertad, valores profundamente necesarios en un país que las relega, tanto en el plano social como el político, a un segundo plano, a la invisibilidad. 

Pero todas ellas dispuestas a luchar, con uñas y dientes, para que se escuchen sus voces.
